Numerical Analysis of Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop in Helically Micro-Finned Tubes

In this study, the pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics of smooth tube internal helically micro-finned tubes with two different fin-to-fin height ratios i.e., equal fin alternating height, are computationally analysed. The is analysed for proof concept reduction. A single phase steady turbulent flow model used a Reynolds number ranging from 12,000 to 54,000. Water as working fluid inlet temperature 55 °C constant wall 20 applied. Friction factor, coefficient, Nusselt number, Thermal Performance Index evaluated numerical results validated by comparison experimental data literature. showed that thermal performance enhanced due finned range numbers, but at expense increased compared tube. heights 5% decrease in friction factor <1% coefficient when tube, making it suitable choice applications.
